Weight Loss
We now offer medical grade weight loss treatments with semaglutide, an FDA-approved medication that can significantly reduce unwanted fat and assist in weight loss.
Semaglutide is a once a week subcutaneous injection that assists in weight loss by suppressing appetite and hunger cravings through the appetite center in the brain. This means that patients taking semaglutide feel full earlier in a meal so they eat fewer calories. It also suppresses cravings so that you are less likely to eat the types of food that lead to weight gain, such as foods that contain high levels of simple carbohydrates and unhealthy fats.
Semaglutide is a generic medication, which has been used in diabetics for weight loss for more than 10 years.

What does the research say about semaglutide?
There is a considerable amount of data supporting the safety and effectiveness of semaglutide. In a double-blind, placebo-controlled study using a cross-over model, 30 patients who took semaglutide lost an average of 11 pounds over 12 weeks doing nothing other than taking semaglutide – they did not change their diet or activity level. The patients who took placebo actually gained a small amount of weight. The majority of weight lost was body fat, not lean muscle mass.
- Double-blind means that neither the treating physician or patient knew if the patient was taking semaglutide or placebo.
- Placebo-controlled means that one group received semaglutide and the other group received an inactive compound that has no effect on the body.
- Cross-over model means that the patients who were first assigned to placebo were switched to semaglutide after the initial 12 weeks and vice versa. This ensures that the effects observed are the result of the medication being studied and is not related to the patient population.

The ideal candidate has 10 or more pounds of unwanted body fat that they have had difficulty losing through diet and exercise alone. Patients who have frequent cravings or are prone to binge eating or emotional eating would greatly benefit from semaglutide treatment. Patients do not have to be dieting or exercising, but these activities make semaglutide more effective through a variety of mechanisms.
